Retired DIG Abiodun Alabi Installed As Fiwajoye of Ikere-Ekiti Kingdom

It was a moment of joy and commendation on Saturday in Ikere-Ekiti, headquarters of Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, where a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Abiodun Sylvester Alabi was installed as the Fiwajoye of Ikere Kingdom by the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado.

 

The palace ground of the First class traditional ruler was filled to the brim with sons and daughters of the community including visitors who came to witness the 2025 Odun Oba and 10th coronation anniversary of the monarch, wiith theme, ‘ The Crown, the Culture, the Legacy: A Decade of Impact’

 

Oba Adu-Alagbado described retired DIG Abiodun Alabi as a worthy son of the land who has contributed immensely to the development of Ikere-Ekiti community and the state.

The Ogoga who was recently appointed chairman Council of traditional rulers in the state, explained that the community was happy with the contributions and exploits of Alabi throughout his service year in the Nigeria Police Force.

 

Responding, the visibly elated DIG Abiodun Alabi (rtd) while speaking with newsmen commended the traditional ruler and the community for the Honorary chieftaincy title bestowed on him.

 

Alabi from Ilawe-Ekiti recalled how he was born and brought in Ikere-Ekiti and that he has been part of the community, promising to continue his support and contributions for the growth and progress of the town.

 

According to him, ” What comes to my mind readily is the fact that whatever you do, people are watching you and at the appropriate time you will be rewarded, So I’m very happy today(Saturday) for this title of Fiwajoye of Ikere Kingdom.

 

” If you understand the meaning of Fiwajoye – it is integrity, honesty personified, somebody who is honest, somebody who has integrity and somebody who is well behaved. That’s the reason that I was conferred with the title.

” It shows that without mincing words or sounding immodest I’ve not exhibited any behavior that’s inimical to my person.”

 

On his early days in the community, Alabi added, ” Well, if you don’t know, I’ve always been part of Ikere-Ekiti , I was born and brought up here. I lived in this town for about 40 years before I left the town because of my work.

” If you listen to Kabiyesi’s statement, when he was making his speech, it reflected that I have been part of the community. So I’m going to continue to contribute my quota and always be in the midst of our people and do my utmost best to ensure that I participate and contribute my part for the development of the town.”
