The Ondo South Advancement & Welfare Consultative Association (OSAWA) has sent a strong letter to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa calling his attention to areas which require urgent attention of his administration.
The association, in a letter dated April 9,2025 and obtained by RAYOPOST, said they are committed to the welfare of the people and development of the state, appealing to the governor to listen to the concerns of the citizens.
The letter which was received in the governor’s office and titled ‘ Urgent Need to Step Up Proactive Governance in Ondo State’ was signed by the OSAWA president, Ade-Aworetan Oluwajuwon Adejare and the General Secretary, Otunba Oyawale Isaiah.
Below is the full letter;
We are writing to bring your attention to pressing issues in Ondo State, which include security, infrastructure development, and state of governance, among others.
We are committed to the progress of Ondo state and always protect the interests of the masses who are majority in any democratic settings anywhere in the world and we can’t close our eyes to some elements and selfish characters soiling the name of our senatorial district hiding under appointment and denting the image of Ilaje, Ondo South as a whole, with greed, underdevelopment pathway, one sided focus, tyrant approach in a public office.
Funnily enough, these elements in question are not from Ondo South senatorial district but they already resolved to mar your government, name and the image of Ondo South senatorial district, making them appear like those who don’t know their left from the right. But we totally condemned such and we call on you as our son who is a member of the Ondo South Advancement & Welfare Consultative Association (OSAWA) in the advisory council; as one of the patrons of the Association. It has become difficult for us to watch a lot of things go wrong and pretend that all is well.
For us in Ondo South senatorial district, we are in the know of the best practices in public office, as scholars, and very intelligent in our different walks of life, which you are not an exception sir. The likes of Dr Olusegun Agagu’s (of blessed memory) records as the Governor of Ondo State can’t be erased in the history book of the state especially in infrastructural development across the state and the road that connected Igbokoda to all parts of Ilaje i.e the riverine areas among others.
*Below are our Key Concerns and Demands:*
We outline several concerns and demands, including improving security, accelerating infrastructure development, promoting educational improvement, and encouraging constructive criticism. Importantly, the tyrant doings and tendencies by some appointees of government under your watch, ganging up freedom of speech, expression and constructive criticism belittle the government.
1. Security: Ensuring synergy among security agencies and visible impact of security votes, addressing insecurity across the three senatorial districts. Ondo State must be secure from all forms of insecurity, there are lots of outcries that need your attention in securing life and property as entranced in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.
2. Infrastructure Development: Accelerating the completion of ongoing projects that were initiated by the previous administration and also, initiate new ones, particularly in Ondo South Senatorial District, which has seen minimal development so far. For over fifteen (15) months in the office sir, we are yet to understand your infrastructure pattern as we are yet to see new initiated infrastructure across the state although the ongoing infrastructure we are seeing in the other two senatorial districts of Ondo state are from the previous administrations which you didn’t neglect kudos however , we requested for more acceleration for the completion. The state is already counting it for Ondo South Senatorial District and Ilaje LG whereas, we haven’t felt the impact of the governor and government.
3. Educational improvement: Fair distribution of subventions and infrastructure interventions without pleasing some specific cabals. Also, ensure the workers welfare so as to impact smart knowledge to their students; the future of tomorrow.
4. Intolerance of constructive criticism: Encouraging open feedback and criticism to aid government performance.
5. Tyrant tendencies: Demanding public apologies from specific appointees or their removal due to perceived tyrannical behaviour. They are, Mr Kayode Ajulo SAN, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, and also Mrs Wunmi Isaac the Commissioner for Finance within 14 days of receiving this letter so as to restore public trust in the government; failure to do so, we will thereby demand for their removal for the interest of the state.
6. Appointee Accountability: Ensuring appointees are accountable to you as the Governor and undergo training to understand governance. The approach in which an appointee will be petitioning another appointee of government to DSS, ICPC and EFCC without totally using the internal mechanism by reporting to the Governor shown that the Governor is not in charge. Excellency sir, you are hereby advised to subject all your ranking appointees to public training so as to know the dealing of government and governance.
7. Media Freedom: Protecting media freedom and constructive criticism, particularly from youths and those with differing views. Misusing of securities and judiciary is uncalled for and totally unacceptable.
Our belief and the normal best practices anywhere in the world; all appointees should be subjected under their boss but in Ondo state under your watch seems some appointees are claiming to be higher than the Governor who appointed them needless to mention their names because the public and the masses already make a series of noise against those characters and selfish tendencies under your government and watch; we won’t sit down and look away but we will have to act now for the interest of Ondo South and Ondo State at large. His Excellency Sir, kindly step up good governance and move away from all these unproductive paths by some of them although we are not too convinced that you are not aware of the whole thing but we just willingly to take you by your denial in some quarters because it berated all rightful thinking that some appointees can be acting on their own without recuse to the person that hired them, they are acting as if the state is their personal or private company; Ondo State belong to all of us and we will be paying all tendencies with their and similar coin going forward.
We hereby seek for your prompt response to all of these as this letter will be set as record and evidence for us in OSAWA to know the next line of action.
