Ondo Assembly Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader Resign

The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan from Ilaje constituency 1, has resigned.

At the plenary sitting held on Tuesday and presided over by the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, the House Majority Leader, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi from Owo constituency 1 also stepped down and was replaced with Ose constituency lawmaker, Hon. Olatunji Oshati.

Akinruntan who is from the same local government area from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said his resignation was due to political power sharing in the state.

In his letter of resignation obtained by RAYOPOST, commended his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him to serve in that capacity over the years.

 

The letter reads, ” It’s with gratitude and humility that I announce my resignation as Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, effective today

” After due consultation and careful consideration, I have decided to step down due to personal reasons, which align with the conventional arrangement in power sharing of elective positions in the State.

” I express my profound gratitude to my fellow members for the trust they reposed in me during my tenure. It has been an honour to serve under the leadership of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and currently, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, both create a platform for effective governance and collaboration.

” As I exit this office, I remain committed to serving the people of my constituency and Ondo State at large. With over 10 years of experience in the House, I am confident that my expertise will continue to benefit our state. I look forward to continuing my service until 2027.”

 

Akinruntan has been replaced with another member representing Okitipupa constituency 11, Hon. Ololade Gbegudu as the new deputy speaker.
