In the run-up to the highly anticipated Ondo State governorship primary election, scheduled for the 20th of April 2024, the political landscape is witnessing a surge of support for Omo’ba Jimi Odimayo, particularly from women’s advocacy groups within the state. The Ondo State Progressive Women Movement and the Ondo Women Mandate groups have jointly issued a fervent plea to APC stakeholders, urging them to throw their weight behind Odimayo’s bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidacy.
In a statement released today, the Co-Conveners, Miss Adetutu Adesoji and Mrs. Yetunde Oguntegbo highlighted Odimayo’s exemplary qualities, citing his mental acuity, academic prowess, professional qualifications, and extensive experience as key attributes that uniquely position him to steer Ondo State towards a brighter future. They emphasized his popularity among the youth and women, as evidenced by various opinion polls and grassroots support.
“We implore the women within the APC to unite in casting their votes for Jimi Odimayo,” the statement read, underscoring the aspirations resonance with the aspirations of the younger generation and his unwavering commitment to party principles.
The groups expressed gratitude for the widespread support garnered by Odimayo, acknowledging the dedication of numerous individuals who have rallied behind his aspirations. Additionally, they appealed directly to influential party figures, including President Bola Tinubu, to consider the historic significance of endorsing a youthful candidate for the governorship position in Ondo State.
“The party must select a candidate who embodies the will of the people,” the statement continued, cautioning against overlooking the public’s voice in the decision-making process. After careful assessment of all aspirants, the groups unanimously endorsed Odimayo as the most qualified aspirant for the governorship seat.
In a final plea, the groups implored the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritize candidate with unblemished reputation and sterling leadership credentials, emphasizing the need for transformative governance to reshape the narrative of Ondo State.
