Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will be having its gubernatorial primary in Ondo State within the next 3 days. To those who are keen observers of the Sunshine State’s politics, the PDP Primary is the deciding factor as regards what becomes of the fortune and glory of the State.
So many factors have contributed to the extent of the rot and decay in the Party’s ethos but none is more immense than the Party’s reward system mechanism. Of a truth, being away from power for so long has caused weariness in our Party faithfuls with many leaving the Party and some other returning at will. The lack of disciplinary measures to checkmate this free exit and entry has emboldened politicians to try their luck in PDP because they know they will be received with open arms out of desperate need of numbers.
In a few days time, Party delegates will be saddled with a onerous task and it is to ensure PDP gets it right with their candidacy. We must not shy away from the fact that we must use our thumbs to vote a candidate that’s capable of uniting the Party and benefit from the pending implosion in the opposition Party.
John Ola Mafo is the one aspirant who has what it takes to win elections for us in the next gubernatorial poll. Aside being loved by all Party members, he has friends and allies across all spheres haven been around for quite some time. His candidacy promises to reignite a surge for alliance amongst Ondo State elderstatemen who would see a hope for a future they once had with a usurper taking APC ticket.
Well, concerns have been raised about the deepness of his pocket but he has been on a statewide tour, bought his forms and is said to enjoy support of powers that be outside Ondo State in the South West. Whatever can be offered by any aspirant will be matched by John Ola Mafo, coupled with our faith that he will not negotiate with the ticket; a fact that can’t be said of many others in the race.
