Ahead of the April 20 governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, a leading aspirant, Dr Olamide Ohunyeye met stakeholders in Ondo kingdom, promising to prioritize their welfare of party members if he becomes the next governor of the state.
Ohunyeye explained that party members from the unit, ward and local government levels deserved to benefits from the dividends of democracy having worked to deliver victory at the poll.
The retired military general and former director of finance at the Nigeria Defense Academy, urged the delegates for the Saturday’s primary to deliver him as the party’s candidate for the election, noting that he would work for the transformation and development of the state as governor.
Ohunyeye said, ” Give me the APC governorship ticket and I will give you in return responsive and humane leadership that will restore faith in governance in Ondo state.
” We will put an end to the era of endless deprivation of party members. Let this be a covenant between party members and myself.
” With the enormous work being done by party officials across all the structures of our party- units, wards, local governments, constituency, zones, state, region and national, we cannot afford to treat some categories of our officials as ad hoc or casual workers.
” Under our watch the services will be formalised and party workers remunerated like the public service.
The Nigerian system developed me as a youth and made me to fulfill my destiny. I owe the present generation of Youths within and outside our party a duty to payback by developing them. The Youths of Ondo State will no longer be diminished under my governorship.
” Give me the APC governorship ticket in Ondo State and I promise to mobilise resources to build befitting party secretariat across the local government areas.
” Our party members deserve a more dignifying places to hold meetings. Our officials deserve conducive environment to perform party work.”
