The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo state has held its maiden consultative meeting with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the state.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Indo state, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola while speaking during the event on Thursday March 21,2024 noted that the meeting will henceforth be held on a quarterly basis in the state for improved partnerships with CSOs ahead of the November 16,2024 governorship poll.
While appreciating the support, commitments and understanding of CSOs during past elections, she drew their attention to the upcoming Governorship election in the state especially the next activity which is the conduct of political party primaries for the Governorship election between 6th to 27th April 2024.
She therefore urged them to engage with political parties with the aim of observing their primaries in the area of advocacy for inclusion of under-represented groups for elective offices at all levels.
She assured them that INEC is committed to ensuring eligible Nigerians have the opportunity to exercise their franchise and that the Commission will provide support and guidance for seamless conduct of election.
