Leye Igbabo Fires Back At Ondo PDP, Threatens To Expose How Leaders Traded Off Party

A recently resigned Director of Media and Publicity of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Leye Igbabo has responded to the party’s statement on the circumstances leading to his exit from his role.

The State Secretary of the party, Seye Olujimi had on Tuesday while reacting to Igbabo’s resignation and attacks against the leadership said he was given a soft landing to exit his role for more vibrant and fresh ideas in the party.

But Igbabo in a statement made available to RAYOPOST, disagreed with the party and warned not to be forced to reveal the alleged compromise and trade off of the party by some leaders in the state.

The full statement below;

I read a rebuttal as captioned above, over my resignation as the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP in Ondo State and signed by the State Secretary, Mr Oluseye Olujimi claiming that the leadership purportedly extended to me “the option of an honourable resignation in a mutually beneficial manner”.

I can now see the reason why PDP, as it currently stands, cannot rise again due to the fact that the platform is already infested with naked lies and operated by conmen who have lost good conscience.

I ask: how and why does the leadership have to extend such an alleged option to someone it claimed that “his tenure in office was marked by disloyalty, poor coordination and self promotion”?

And to straighten the record, there was no such time any arrangement or options were discussed till I tendered my resignation letter this morning. I challenge the State Secretary to further explain where such a meeting occurred between me and the party leadership.

I was at the Party Secretariat yesterday and the State Secretary only greeted me and did NOT mention any such options to me. Coming to the public to spew out gibberish in order to cover their deceit, compromise and indiscipline is a height of irresponsible leadership which the PDP is currently witnessing and which has caused it to be terminally ill.

For the sake of emphasis, I first tendered my resignation letter around October last year when I observed that the majority of the leaders were not faithful to the promotion, projection and success of PDP in Ondo State. It was this State Secretary that was detailed to fetch me to the residence of the Party’s 2024 Gubernatorial Candidate, Hon Agboola Ajayi where they all appealed to me to rescind my decision to quit.

The flag, Hon Agboola Ajayi, together with the immediate past Caretaker Chairman Hon Bakkita Bello, this State Secretary and some other leaders profusely begged me which made me to reconsider my exit from the office seeing it a great honour to be so persuaded at that level.
I had to rescind the decision and took up the job again. From there, I drafted a letter to pretend that my appointment had been renewed and handed it over to the State Secretary to which he appended his signature and sent it to the media.

For some three months now, I have been expressing my inconvenience and thus, my willingness to exit the office when I saw that the wickedness of some so-called leaders, is unthinkable and that every imagination of their thoughts, was continually against the party. I confided in some of the leaders such as H. E. Ch. Omolade Oluwateru, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso PhD, Dr Tayo Dairo, Hon John Ola Mafo and a few others who I hold in high esteem and they have been prevailing on me to remain in the office promising to address my concerns.
They can bear me witness as leaders of good conscience.

For a State Secretary to now come up with imaginary or non existent options because he wanted to defend the rot in a system is something I consider quite highly mischievous, malicious, and callous.

It would have been wiser for the State Secretary to limit his fantasy and fallacy to the level of “No Crisis, Resignation Of Publicity Director, Part Of New Dawn In our Party” rather than taking his deceit to such a ridiculous level of attempting to conjure a situation that did not arise in any slightest way and at any given time.

For the State Secretary to go to the level of describing my tenure as one marked by disloyalty, poor coordination and tendency to prioritize self promotion over party unity” is laughable, amusing as well as crude and absurd. The action of the State Secretary fits into this description because there was never any time, funds were released to me to coordinate the publicity department. So where is the poor coordination in a department that is starved with funds in spite of millions of money, entering the Secretariat and shared, with nothing to show for it?

It is not in the place of the Secretary to score my performance as the Publicity Director but the entire people of the State including members of the ruling Party who saw my genuineness, dedication and commitment to the growth of a Party that has already been sold by its own leaders.

While they were busy negotiating their price for the sale of the party, I continued to promote and project the party even at my own personal cost when funds were deliberately not made available. The State Secretary, if he plans to make heaven, should be manly enough to explain their level of compromise which led to my stoppage of publicity jobs for the past three months.
He should know that I still have the official letter written to me after they had been compromised.

I would appeal to the Party to allow the sleeping dog to lie because stirring a hornets nest, may unavoidably expose the insincerity, compromise and trade off of the party by some irresponsible men who claim to be PDP leaders in the day and something else in the night.

I urge them to be accordingly guided.

Leye Igbabo
Former Publicity Director.
