Inauguration: Aiyedatiwa Declares Monday As Public Holiday In Ondo

• Lifts Curfew on Owo

 

 

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared Monday, 24th of February 2025, as a public holiday in the State.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan in a statement on Friday said the work-free day will allow the people of the State to participate in the activities of the inauguration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Olayide Owolabi Adelami which is scheduled for Monday.

Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa has directed the cancellation of restriction of movement on Saturday, 22nd of February 2025 during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

While there will be no restriction of movement on Saturday, residents are still expected to clean their environment, the statement added.

 

In the meantime, the governor has lifted the curfew earlier imposed on Owo over the last month’s violent clashes of cultists which claimed lives of some people.

 

The CPS to the governor in a separate statement said the decision, ” follows an improvement in the security situation of the community and the peaceful conduct of residents.”

He added, ” With this development, residents of Owo can resume their daily civic activities and movement without any hindrance.

” The Governor thanked security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and all other stakeholders who rose to the challenge of restoring peace and order to the community.”
