Ekiti People’s Assembly Slams Governor Oyebanji’s ‘Excessive’ Appointments

In a scathing rebuke, the Ekiti People’s Assembly has fiercely criticized the recent wave of excessive appointments orchestrated by Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.

The group, led by its Convener, Yomi Adebayo, lambasted the appointments as a stark departure from the intellectual prowess that Ekiti State is renowned for. The revelation that certain positions have been divvied up among multiple individuals, with some slots accommodating as many as nine appointees, has raised eyebrows and drawn sharp criticism from concerned citizens.

“While we recognize the governor’s intent to ensure fair distribution of opportunities, the manner in which appointments have been parcelled out undermines the integrity of our governance system. It’s lamentable that what should be a merit-based selection process has devolved into a patronage scheme, trivializing the essence of public service,” remarked Adebayo

“This blatant disregard for meritocracy and the proliferation of appointments based on political patronage rather than competence is a cause for grave concern. Such practices not only betray the trust of the populace but also perpetuate a culture of mediocrity that is antithetical to progress and development.

“In sincere response to this development, we, the Ekiti People’s Assembly call upon Governor Oyebanji to reassess these appointment portfolios, ensuring that future selections are guided by principles of transparency and genuine merit. This is risking further erosion of public confidence in the government’s ability to govern effectively.

“We cannot stand idly by as the intellectual legacy of our State is tarnished by such ill-conceived appointments. The ludicrous spectacle of positions being overcrowded with appointees is an affront to the intelligence of our people. The governor aides responsible for this debacle- who are so lazy and uncreative to assign proper portfolio- must be held accountable for their lack of foresight and competence,” declared Adebayo.

In closing, the Ekiti People’s Assembly reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical governance and called upon all stakeholders to prioritize the welfare and interests of the citizenry above all else.
