Ekiti Govt Restricts Movement As Environmental Sanitation Holds Tomorrow

As part of efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, the Ekiti State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for July will hold on Saturday, 26th July between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The theme for this month’s exercise is “Clean Environment, Safe Communities,” emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in preventing disease outbreaks and safeguarding public health.

The State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe has called on all residents to embrace the sanitation schedule as part of their civic responsibility.

“Environmental cleanliness is not negotiable. A clean environment means a healthier population,” she said.

Aluko-Ajisafe reminded the public that there will be restrictions on movement during the three-hour sanitation window on Saturday, except for those on essential duties.
She encouraged all households and communities to participate actively in the exercise.

Market women are to clean their shops on Thursday, while government workers are expected to clean their offices on Friday.

The Commissioner added that Environmental Health Officers from the Ministry of Environment, LGAs, LCDAs, NGOs and Security Agencies will be on ground to monitor the exercise and enforce necessary measures.

Erelu Aluko-Ajisafe reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to environmental health, noting that sustainable sanitation is a collective responsibility of both the government and the people.
