• Says Ekiti South Will Produce Next Governor in 2030
A former governor of Ekiti state and leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ayodele Fayose has declared that the governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji would be reelected for second term in office in the 2026 Governorship election.
Fayose who spoke while appearing in a Channels Television Programme Politics Today on Friday and monitored RAYOPOST advised those interested in becoming Ekiti state governor to wait till 2030 to contest.
According to him, Governor Oyebanji has performed well in the last two and half years with his inclusive governance style, which he said has made all tendencies and leaders to support him.
He noted that the present administration in the state has made significant impacts in the lives of the people with his welfarist programmes and policies.
Fayose who reiterated his endorsement of the governor, revealed no aspirant or candidate can defeat the governor in the next year’s poll.
” Let me say to you that as far as Ekiti is concerned, we are comfortable with Governor Biodun Oyebanji and nobody can defeat him in this coming election(2026) he has won the election already even before the proper election.
” Anybody who wants to be Ekiti State governor should go and wait till 2030 after Oyebanji’s second term to contest. That is the fact that you can go to the streets to confirm.”
He, however said that after governor Oyebanji’s eight-year tenure, the southern part of the state is expected to produce the next governor, saying, “whoever is planning to become governor in 2030 from Central and Northern districts will be resisted.”
