2027: Only Politicians Are Defecting To APC, Not Real Voters, Tinubu Should Be Worried – Ndume

Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Senator representing Borno South senatorial district, Senator Ali Udume has called on President Bola Tinubu not to listen to politicians around him but the average citizens and voters in the country.

The fourth time senator who spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics and monitored by RAYOPOST, said the president should be worried about the series of endorsements for a second term majorly by the politicians.

He argued that the majority of Nigerians who are the voters are not yet feeling the impacts of the renewed hope agenda of the administration, adding that President Tinubu must begin to take charge of his government in the interest of the people.

Ndume while regretting the turn of events during the APC summit where the president was unanimously endorsed for second term, said the endorsement was against the invitation sent for the event.

”I was there but that was not why I was there. I was there for a summit and when I realised that that it was not a summit and a voice vote was put about the endorsement of the President; I just left, ” he said.

Expressing worry over the rising cases of endorsement for the president, the senator said former president, Goodluck Jonathan received endorsement across the country with over 22 Governors on his side, but lost the 2015 presidential election.

Ndume added, “It happened before, not once, not twice. It happened during Jonathan. That does not mean anything. Politicians are decamping but the people who are the voters are not decamping.

“I hope that he would look back historically and see that the gathering of people to endorse you does not mean anything.

“Jonathan had 22 governors then endorsing him like was done now. And what happened? Jonathan lost woefully. A lot of money was spent. Even the election was shifted but we are not learning our lessons. I pity Mr President.”

According to him, ” My position on the people surrounding the President(Bola Tinubu) that are supposed to help him are deceiving him or are damaging his image.

”I don’t have any problems with the President(Bola Tinubu)…He is my president so why should I have problems with him. If he does something that is not right, I will point it out.”
